Do you have children in your classroom who has difficulties speaking with others?

Is this affecting their ability to access the curriculum and develop confidence interacting with others?

Are you struggling to meet the needs and support these children in your classroom?

Supporting children and young people with Speech and language difficulties can be very challenging and often requires extra support. We know that the earlier you help, the better outcomes they have for their communication and learning.

Colourful semantics is tool created by Alison Bryan to help Children learn to put words together. It is really helpful for children who need help to learn how to use grammar or put their ideas together. Colourful Semantics is widely used with children with language difficulties. The approach can be used with children, adolescents and adults with a range of Speech, Language and Communication Needs.

This includes: language delay, developmental language disorder, autism spectrum disorder, down syndrome.

This event is ideal for:

Any educational professionals working with children suspected of, or diagnosed with Speech and Language difficulties, in:

  • Early Years Foundation Settings

  • Primary schools

  • Secondary schools

This includes: Class Teachers, Teaching Assistants, SENCo's.

What are the long-term effects of SLCN?

If left untreated, SLCN can have effects into adulthood and have a large impact on the child's academic, social, and emotional wellbeing.

This course will be presented by Speech and Language Therapists, who has a specialist interest in supporting children with Language difficulty. We have a wide range of experience in supporting children with language difficulty in mainstream schools across Manchester. We are passionate about increasing awareness of the long-term impact of Language difficulty and training parents and educational staff to have a positive impact on the lives of children and young people with Language Difficulty.
