'Online live' means that each show is a live event - a hybrid of theatre, radio play, enhanced reading and a Zoom meeting!

The information below will give you the URL, meeting code and password needed to attend the show on your chosen date: Every Thursday and Friday throughout June.Please book your free ticket though, as numbers are limited.

THEATRE IS DEAD presents two clowns with an impossible problem. How to live, where to live, what to be and do now theatre is dead? And is theatre really dead? And if it is, can they not revive it?

In fact the clowns are two actors, Tom and Jim, trying to devise a show called THEATRE IS DEAD. With their comedy noses on (not red noses, these are theatre clowns,) they struggle with the death of their natural environment – theatre. They strive in vain to raise it from the dead, and to find some alternative means of employment. With their noses off they are different characters in much the same plight – out of work actors struggling to keep afloat by practising their craft in an old shed.

THEATRE IS DEAD is a doorway through disaster into the unlimited worlds of the imagination. It is an adventure – a journey through the belly of a dead whale, by the light of a glow-worm in a jar, led by a dying mole. There is no destination – but the journey itself perhaps reveals that – THEATRE IS ALIVE!

Columbina Theatre welcome you to their Zoom performances of 'Theatre is Dead!', an experiment in making online live theatre.

The shows begin at 19:30 - London Time.

The shows are performed live on the Zoom platform. If you are new to Zoom, you'll need to sign up (for free) at: https://zoom.us/ before the event.

On the night, please join just before 19.30. You will be kept in a waiting room until you are admitted. Please have camera and sound on. At the start of the show you will be asked to turn your camera off, but to leave your sound on, because we like to feel the audience. (Unless you are in a place with a lot of background noise, then please mute your sound.)

For the best experience, please set your 'view' in Zoom to gallery view, rather than speaker view.

We are aiming to make each performance an event, so please dress-up, or dress-down, as you would when going to the theatre. Gather the household, grab a glass of wine, dim the lights, and we hope you enjoy the show.
