Description

CoMA (Contemporary Music For All) Festival have partnered with Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival to deliver a day of workshops and an informal performance on Saturday 28th April 2018 at St Pauls Hall on the University of Huddersfield Campus. The day will comprise of two music-making workshops:


Workshop 1

1 - 3pm

This workshop is an inclusive opportunity to try group playing with composer and teacher Katie Warburton, who will guide participants through rehearsals of scores by James Tenney (In a Large Open Space) and Zoë Martlew (Slap-on).

Open to participants who can read music at grade 3+ standard.


Workshop 2

3.30 - 5.30pm

This workshop explores experimental music-making through improvisation, looping and electronics. Participants will have the opportunity to create and perform their own piece of music with sound artist Russell Gray.

Open to everyone, with no prior experience necessary.

Performance

6 - 7pm

Participants at these workshops will be invited to perform the pieces they have created and rehearsed in a free, public concert taking place after the workshops, giving them the opportunity to apply what they have learned as a group.
