Coma Notes: an evening of music, poetry and talks exploring coma and consciousness
An evening of new music by Cardiff University composers, in collaboration with poet, James Nash, and the Cardiff-York Universities Coma and Disorders of Consciousness Research Centre
Sarah Dacey, soprano
Gwenllian Llyr, harp
Internationally-acclaimed performers Sarah Dacey, soprano and Gwenllian Llyr, harp, present a concert of new works on themes of consciousness and coma by postgraduate composers at Cardiff University School of Music.
The songs are all world premieres, written under the supervision of distinguished Cardiff University composer Dr Arlene Sierra. They will include original poetry, personal recollections and other texts combined with expressive, colourful and powerful music for soprano and harp.
The 45min recital and poetry reading will be followed by a post-concert talk including composers, musicians, and the poet - James Nash - alongside social science researcher (Professor Jenny Kitzinger) who conducted the research which informed the composition and poetry.
The evening can move informally on to the School's concert hall bar afterwards
This event is part of the national ESRC Festival of the Social Sciences
