"Anyone who has experienced a glissando of language on the streets of Italy will understand the utter exuberance with which Italian-born Starace attacks and runs with the language of music" - Paul Medley, Oxford Times
A jazz workshop for all kinds of instruments (age range from 18 years old) with Tommaso Starace.
Tommaso has performed and collaborated with many great musicians including Dave Liebman, Kenny Wheeler, Billy Cobham, Jim Mullen, Liam Noble, Jonathan Gee, Roger Beaujolais, Paolo Pellegatti, Attilio Zanchi, Fabrizio Bosso, Tino Tracanna, Paolo Fresu, Gianni Giudici and Academy Award Winning composer Dario Marianelli. He continues to seek inspiration and nurture his jazz expertise by taking part in jazz seminars and classes led by some of the greatest musicians alive, including Dave Liebman, Miguel Zenon, Vincent Herring, Ted Nash.
Tommaso will bring along 3 standards to the workshop (these will be sent ahead so that students can prepare accordingly) an easy one, intermediate one and, depending on the level of the class, a hard one.
There will be work on improvisation, talking about scales, modes, play and rest technique, as well as interaction with the rhythm section. The workshop will also explore the work of the jazz greats.
In Tommaso's classes there's often a rhythm section (bass, drums and piano and or guitar) so that makes it even more enjoyable for everyone to play together and work on interacting with one another.
