Description

Join the North York Moors National Park’s ‘Land of Iron’ project team for a tour of the final year of excavations.

Explore the remains of an ironstone mining and processing complex, discover why it was so short-lived and hear what three years of archaeological excavations at this site have found.

Please park at National Park car park Goathland, YO22 5LX (OS Grid Ref: NZ 83359 01395). No vehicle access to site.

Please walk down the Rail Trail to the meeting point near Incline Cottage (OS Grid Ref: NZ 82155 02144) (approx. 1.5km/1 mile, please allow 20-30mins).

Steep ascents and descents (pavements, roads and steps). Varied and uneven surfaces. Sorry, no dogs.

Children are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult.

Our tours are free, although a suggested donation of £2 is welcome, helping us to care for the National Park.
