Event description
Come and sing Choral Evensong with organ in the beautiful St Nicholas Church on Church Green in Harpenden.

About this Event

Do you miss singing Choral Evensong because you no longer have time to commit to be a regular member of a choir?

Were you a chorister as a child but haven't sung Evensong since?

Are you an experienced singer whose choir doesn’t sing Evensong?

Would you just like to have a go?

All are welcome, although music reading skills are necessary.

Join us to rehearse at 3.30 pm in the church. Wear what you like. Enjoy a good sing with others, then tea and chat.

Finally we will sing the service of Choral Evensong at 6.30pm which lasts under an hour.

We may well then repair to a local hostelry for drinks.

Forces permitting, we plan to sing canticles by Stanford in C, Parry’s epic Coronation anthem “I was Glad”, responses in 5 parts by Smith, plus psalm and hymns, maybe an Introit too. It will just be a REALLY good sing, and it’s free to take part!

If you’d like to bring a cake to share, that would be wonderful.

Friends and family who are not singing are welcome to the service.

Any questions to directorofmusic@stnicholas.parishofharpenden.org

St Nics is a short walk from Harpenden train station and close to the High Street with local shops and restaurants.

Do come and join us!

Copies will be available on the day or you can download and print your own.
