About this event
Come and Sing Handel's Messiah
Join us for a joyous day at St Mary's Church, Purton as we sing choral excerpts from Handel's masterpiece, Messiah, together. Whether you're a seasoned singer or just love to belt out the Hallelujah chorus in the shower, this event is for you! Let's come together to celebrate the holiday season with beautiful music and good company. No auditions, no pressure, just pure musical fun. Mark your calendars and invite your friends!
With an evening performance to close our time together, it's going to be a day to remember! The workshop concert at 5:30pm will be free entry (with a retiring collect in aid of St.Mary's Purton), so it's an excellent opportunity to invite family and friends for a very special Advent evening!
Programme
To celebrate the time of Advent, we will focus on Parts 1 and 3. We are planning to include the following choruses:
And the Glory
O Thou that tellest
For unto us a child is born
Glory to God
Hallelujah
Since by man came death
But thanks be to God
Worthy is the Lamb / Blessing and Honour / Amen
We might add in Their Sound is Gone Out and Lift Up Your Heads if there is enough time. For the performance, we will include some of the arias to bring the story to life.
