Description

Would you like to sing in a choir celebrating music as a force for change?

Come and Sing in Secret on 16th, 17th and 23rd June!

Ticket price includes a songbook, guided tour and lecture, sandwich lunches, refreshments, and a buffet dinner inside Lyveden Manor.

Take part in three days of music and history, led by an inspiring team of professional musicians and National Trust experts.

Visit behind-the-scenes, inside the newly acquired Lyveden Manor, with guided tours of Lyveden gardens; Tudor labyrinth, moat, snail mounts and orchard of 300 trees.

Perform with over a hundred people against the majestic backdrop of Lyveden New Bield for our Secret Concert.

All levels of ability welcome. A passion for singing is essential!


Saturday 16th June, 9.45am-5.30pm & Sunday 17th June, 9.45am-5.30pm

  • Historic guided tour across Lyveden, learning about Thomas Tresham and the symbolism of the site.
  • Q & A session with leading Lyveden experts.
  • Sandwich lunch and refreshments provided each day.
  • Singing workshops with music directors of The Come and Sing Company; Tom Appleton and Elenor Bowers-Jolley.
  • Explore a music repertoire of resistance, including William Byrd, Thomas Tallis and recusant choral music of the period, slave spirituals and Syrian folk song, alongside a team of professional singers.


Please note that your own or shared transport may be required between Lyveden and a nearby hall for Saturday's after-lunch music workshop, and Sunday will be held at a nearby hall, to accommodate numbers.


Saturday 23rd June, 2.00-8.30pm

  • Lyveden rehearsal, outdoor stage, with professional singers and children's choir.
  • Buffet dinner provided inside Lyveden Manor.
  • Secret Concert public performance, 7.30pm


FAQs

Where is the meeting point for the first day?

Registration is at 9.45am inside Lyveden Manor House. This property is not open to the general public, but will be signposted from the National Trust Lyveden New Bield entrance. Please note it is a 10-15 minute walk from the carpark, so arrive early enough to walk down.

Please note that Saturday afternoon and Sunday’s music workshops will be at a nearby hall location to Lyveden.


Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

The event is open to 16 years and older. Please note we cannot provide supervision to anyone under 16 years.


What are my transport, parking and access options at the venue?

National Trust Lyveden has a carpark, which will be available to those attending the weekend. Please visit the below link for further information.

What can I bring into the event?

For the Secret Concert on 23rd June, we ask that everyone wears smart casual black clothes and shoes.

Water, tea, coffee, food and refreshments will be provided. Along with a songbook.

No need to bring anything other than you and your voice!
