Come Cast with Me - Jewellery Casting Workshop

Join me in the Silver Space facility at Yorkshire Artspace, Persistence Works for a hands-on jewellery casting workshop! Choose to sand cast a gorgeous ring or pendent. You’ll also have the option of adding coloured gems to your piece! This in-person event is perfect for beginners and seasoned jewellery makers alike. Over the course of the day Florence will lead you through each step of the process and support you in your making. At the end you’ll take your gorgeous piece away with you to cherish for life or gift to someone special.

The workshop will take place in the gorgeous Silver Space within Yorkshire Artspace, Persistence Works studio complex in the heart of Sheffield city centre. A specialist facility for contemporary silversmithing in the north providing space for teaching, classes, short term bench hire, and settled space for professional silversmiths. Tea, coffee, and biscuits will be available, and there will be a break for lunch.

About Florence

Florence has almost 15 years’ worth of experience, designing and making in both precious and nonprecious metals. Returning to work after the birth of her daughter Florence launched Didi Cor, her handmade jewellery brand that specialises in sand cast jewellery pieces alongside bespoke jewellery commissions. Much of her work incorporates coloured stones that are cast into place. Sand casting is an ancient art, but casting over stones is considered more modern; it’s a playful and experimental technique that always yields surprising results. Florence also teaches within the subject at Sheffield Hallam University and was a former starter studio member at YAS before the studio became the gorgeous Sliver Space it is today.

There will be an assortment of different ring styles and sizes for you to work from. This workshop does not include calving your own design in wax. However if you know the ring size you require, please let Florence know before attending, email info@objectcor.com. Alternatively, if you have a ring you would like to try and make a copy of, you are welcome to bring it, but she can not guarantee that it will be suitable for this process.

If you choose to make a pendent, the class fee does not include a chain to turn the pendent into a necklace. This can be purchased separately from Florence, or you can source your own.
