About this Event
This condensed 3 hour training aims to support participants to increase understanding and confidence around LGBTQ+ terminology, definitions and experience. The course will address prejudice and discrimination and enable participants to develop strategies to address these and to support and include LGBT+ young people in their services.
By the end of the training participants will have gained knowledge and understanding of:
Attitudes towards LGBTQ+ young people
Stereotypes, judgements and assumptions around sexuality and gender identity
The issues affecting LGBTQ+ young people and how to support them
Definitions and terminology
Practical skills to support a young person with disclosure
How to develop professional practice to ensure LGBTQ+ inclusivity
Ways to challenge homophobia, biphobia and transphobia in youth settings
PLEASE NOTE THIS DESCRIPTION IS FOR THE FULL LENGTH TRAINING
In the condensed version, although we will be touching on each of the topics listed, it will not be in as much detail as the usual day-long training. When we are able to train in person once again, you will be very welcome to attend the full day, should you wish to.
