Tue 20 December 2016, 19:30 – 21:30 GMT
Come and enjoy festive comedy and carols in the magnificent Durham Cathedral.
Compered by Tony Vino we've got a great evening of entertainment from John Archer, Fran Garrity and Mark Williams who will provide laughs for the entire family. We've got some carolling too ….but not always the way you would imagine.......
Star of Help my Supply Teacher Is Magic (BBC), Penn & Teller - Fool Us (ITV) and The Sketch Show (ITV); John Archer is also a past winner of the ‘Magic Circle Stage Magician of the Year’. One of the best comedy magicians in the UK today, John recently fooled Penn & Teller on their ITV series. He's Tim Vine tour support of choice, after working with him on numerous occasions (including The Sketch Show on ITV) and has been a regular at Spring Harvest.
“Booking an act for my Dad's 70th birthday, I wanted a great act and went straight to JOHN ARCHER - his reputation in the magic world is among the VERY BEST. Hysterically funny, and perfectly pitched for the occasion. He made the evening. I'd recommend him unreservedly.” DERREN BROWN
“One of the Funniest men I know” Tim Vine
Preston’s very own funnyman Tony Vino (**** The Scotsman) has been touring the comedy scene since early 2005. Well aware of social and political issues he mixes friendly well thought out observational humour with audience interaction and quick witted responses. A finalist in 2006 Funny Bones competition, Tony has enjoyed recognition as a comedian and comedy compere of renown. His life and interests are wide ranging and so is the subject matter he weaves together on stage.
He is a well sought after act for high profile fundraising events for charities as Christian Aid, Oxfam, Fairtrade Foundation and TearFund. He was also the official warm up comedian for BBC Songs of Praise (tough crowd). You can also hear him regularly as a regular weekend comedy pundit on BBC Radio Manchester.
“A Great Show the assured Tony Vino copes with a mixed audience really well” Kate Copstic, The Scotsman
“Tony is very funny, a class act and always comes up with the goods” Darren Goddard, Greenbelt Festival Events
“Tony was delightful, he had 1000 people fully engaged and laughing throughout” Paul Jennings, ASDA Events/Communications
“Comedy that’s life affirming” BBC1 Heaven & Earth Show
Fran Garrity has an assured delivery of finely crafted material, that saw him in early into her career win All Jokes Aside in 2011. That launched him into a position of ‘one to be watched’ on the Northern circuit, from his base on Teesside. Last year he made it to the final of the prestigious FAF Breakthrough Act Competition and went up to the Edinburgh Fringe to co-host The Clean (As Possible) Comedy Show.
"Fran never fails to deliver, he’s dependable with a sharp dry delivery. He came up with one of the best lines of the night which brought the house down" Steve Rimmer (Nibbles With Giggles)
"Very sharp and hilariously funny, he has a way about him that put an audience at ease" Nick Banks (Rib Ticklers Comedy)
Hailing from the city where everyone is a comedian, Liverpool’s Mark Williams has had to prove his worth as an observational comedian above and beyond the norm, taking him to the Edinburgh Festival and supporting Andy Kind and Tony Vino across the UK. He’s appeared as a contestant on the Channel 4 cult classic Countdown and gigs across the UK comedy circuit.
