BBC writersroom invites you to a comedy masterclass with Jason Cook, creator & writer of the hugely popular BBC Two sitcom, Hebburn, and Matt Tiller, Executive Producer.
Now in its second series, Hebburn was one of the shows piloted in 2011 as part of the BBC's Salford Sitcom Showcase season. Award winning stand-up comedian Jason Cook created this warm, true-to-life comedy based on his own experiences of growing up in the North East of England.
Hebburn is a comedy which following the ups and downs of married couple Jack (Chris Ramsay) and Sarah (Kimberley Nixon) as they deal with family life. The Pearson family return in series two dealing with the aftermath of dad’s stroke, mum Pauline has to find a way to support the family. Jack and Sarah have a baby on the way and, as the thin-walled family house is overcrowded, they are desperate to move into their own place.
This exclusive event is a unique opportunity to put your questions to the writer of Hebburn, Jason Cook, and Executive Producer, Matt Tiller (Director of Programming, Channel X), who developed the show with Jason from its inception. They will be in conversation with Helen Spencer, Producer, BBC Comedy . Hear Jason & Matt talk about the development, inspiration and writing process for Hebburn, sharing tips and insights on writing & producing great comedy.
