After nearly forty years of artistic silence, Jon C Woods re-emerges with Coming Out of the Art Womb, a powerful retrospective of radical vulnerability. Featuring bold colours, visceral imagery and recurring motifs, the works explore queerness, belonging, identity and the uneasy gaze between artist, viewer and subject. Woods is an artist and Art Psychotherapist with three decades in the NHS. He now unveils a body of work long kept private due to censorship and curtailment from societal pressures and what Woods dubs “the Cornish Art Mafia." The exhibition is produced by his children as an act of deep admiration for his work, and frustration that it hasn’t been publicly seen till now.
