After nearly forty years of artistic silence, Jon C Woods re-emerges with Coming Out of the Art Womb, a powerful retrospective of radical vulnerability. Featuring bold colours, visceral imagery and recurring motifs, the works explore queerness, belonging, identity and the uneasy gaze between artist, viewer and subject. In this exhibition Woods unveils a body of work long kept private due to censorship and curtailment from societal pressures and what he calls “the Cornish Art Mafia. This exhibition is produced by his children as an act of deep admiration for his work, and frustration that it hasn’t been publicly seen till now. Also to celebrate his 70th birthday!
