Training & Safety
Survive The Yomp is a physical and psychological challenge and we take your safety and enjoyment very seriously. We provide you with training advice and videos on our YouTube channel and our regular training ideas on Twitter and Facebook.
The night before Survive The Yomp, we hold a compulsory safety briefing. On the Yomp, we have first aid and medical cover and ask that at all times you comply with the instructions of our staff team.
The beneficiary of the 2016 Survive The Yomp is the Commando Spirit Appeal.
We ask all participants to set their own fundraising target and most people set their target at £500 to £1,000 (or even more).
Please remember that this is an endeavour target and also that you have until three months after the event to reach the target you set – we don’t send the boys round if you miss your target but we are miffed if you don’t give it your best shot. It is a fundraising challenge after all!
We are here to support you every step of the way – we can’t do the fundraising for you but we can give you ideas and advice from people who have raised serious sums of money in the past.
We will set up an Everyday Hero page for you online and help you to personalise it.
We also help you to get the word out to potential supporters; we provide you with advice on publicity and PR and include your photo, a short profile and a link to your online fundraising page, on the Commando Spirit participant page.
We are happy to answer any questions you have, just call us on either of the numbers below. Four of the questions we get asked most often are:
What time do I have to do the event in?
It is up to you. You can choose to do the event in Officer time (under 7hrs) Marines time (under 8hrs) or at your own pace (under 12hrs).
What weight do I have to carry?
It is up to you. You can choose to carry Commando Weight (40lbs) or Survival Weight (we give you a recommended kit list for a day in the Scottish Highlands)
What if I don’t think I can fundraise?
We ask everyone to set a fundraising target and most people set it at £500 or more. Don’t worry this is an endeavour target and we do not send the boys round if you miss it but we are miffed if you don’t put in your best effort – Survive The Yomp and all the events in the Commando Spirit Series are fundraising events after all!
Do I enter as a team or an individual?
You can enter on your own or in a team, and your teams can be any number from three upwards! You should crack on and enter, and then get anyone you want to be part of your team to enter when they are ready. At some point just send us an email to let us know who is going to be in the team.
In order to purchase these tickets in installments, you'll need an Eventbrite account. Log in or sign up for a free account to continue.
