Commemorating WW1 in Museums
Thu 27 April 2017, 13:30 – 16:30 BST
An afternoon of presentations and discussions to help museums and heritage groups develop their plans for the upcoming centenary of Armistice Day, or other WW1 related projects.
Join us to hear from a successful local project funded by the HLF 'First World War; then and now' funding, the work of WW1 Gateways to support the comemmorations and a local perspective on Armistice Day to inspire your plans, before working with Joseph Minden (HLF) on giving your project shape and a chance to secure funding.
1.40pm Introducing WW1 Gateways & Local Case Study (Professor Brad Beaven & Dr Mel Bassett)
2.10pm ‘Visitor Responses to WW1 experiences’ (Dr Jessica Moody)
2.40pm Discussions: What is the point of WW1 commemoration in museums?
3.00pm Refreshment Break
3.15pm Applying for a grant under 'HLF: Then & Now’ (Joseph Minden, HLF)
4.00pm Discussion: What is your project idea, and what do you need to make it happen?
