About this event

Centre for Mental Health is an independent charity working nationwide to bring about better mental health for all. It is currently leading an 18-month investigation into mental health inequalities: the Commission for Equality in Mental Health. The Commission is investigating what causes inequalities in mental health and what can be done to prevent them and ensure that people who have a higher risk of a mental health difficulty get better help.

With thanks to locally-based expert by experience, Marsha McAdam, the Commission is holding a series of workshops in Greater Manchester to hear from people who have experiences to share. We would like to hear from people who have lived through a mental health difficulty themselves and from people who are involved in initiatives that seek to improve mental health in their community.

The workshops will be an opportunity to share your views and experiences with researchers about what can be done to improve mental health, especially in communities that don’t get listened to. They will help the Commission to write its national report to make recommendations to the government.

This workshop will focus on women's experiences around mental health and inequalities. It will be held in Oldham - details of the venue will be confirmed shortly.

All workshops will be facilitated in an inclusive and respectful way. Each will have no more than 20 attendees. Light refreshments will be provided, and travel to the workshop can be reimbursed.

Centre for Mental Health will reimburse reasonable travel expenses on presentation of a receipt. In line with the charity’s policies, reasonable travel expenses will normally cover public transport, unless for any reason this is inappropriate for you, in which case we will reimburse private transport.

If you have any questions please contact Emma Bailey or Louis Allwood.
