Common Language Group online meeting

Topic: The Power of Collaboration

The Seafish-facilitated Issues Groups provide a discussion platform for some of the most important issues facing the seafood industry, particularly in relation to the responsible sourcing of seafood. During the current pandemic Seafish is taking these meetings online. This Common Language Group meeting will explore how collaborative, advocacy-based initiatives, with shared learnings, are driving change in seafood supply chains by helping to provide improvement solutions to sustainability and traceability concerns. The meeting will specifically focus on:

  • The Global Tuna Alliance - an independent group of retailers and supply-chain companies, working to ensure that tuna ultimately meets the highest standards of environmental performance and social responsibility. Speaker: Tom Pickerell.

  • The North Atlantic Pelagic Advocacy Group is advocating for an agreement on total allowable catches for North East Atlantic Pelagic Fisheries in line with scientific advice, and for a long-term science-based management agreement. Speaker: Tom Pickerell

  • North Sea cod fisheries management - adapting to change. Speaker: Mike Park, Scottish White Fish Producers Association.
