Description

The Commonwealth Data Forum 2018 – Europe takes place from 21 to the 23 February 2018 at University of Gibraltar, Campus, Europa Point, Gibraltar GX11 1AA, Gibraltar. The Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation is partnering with the Ministry of Economic Development, Telecommunications & the GSB, Gibraltar, for the first Commonwealth Data Forum.

The Forum will be held under the theme of “The Data Revolution: Maximizing Opportunities & Managing Risks”. This forum will be a highly interactive platform with facilitated discussions on how data solutions can enhance economic and social change and will examine how standards can assist change by determining regulation that will reduce breaches by ensuring compliance. The event is to be held before the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is put into effect in Europe and will assist the international delegations get a clear understanding of the policy and legal issues at the heart of this change, as well as, get an understanding on how these changes will influence them in the future.

The audience will comprise international policy teams, national regulatory bodies, and law firms, managers working within big data and data analytics, service providers and additional stakeholders with an interest in data compliance. CTO is organising the Commonwealth Forum as a way to assist Commonwealth countries understand the various facets, consult with other stakeholders and find ways of addressing emerging challenges.

Among many aspects of data are due to be examined at the event are:

  • Monetising data
  • Data ownership
  • Privacy and Security
  • Legal and jurisdictional issues
  • Data centres
  • General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and its reach beyond Europe
  • Big data for social development
  • Protecting the user online

The meeting will run for three days, the first two days will see the Forum take place, the gala dinner is scheduled for the evening of 21 February. The third day will provide an opportunity for social interaction and networking, with a tour of the city of Gibraltar. This social activity will be hosted by the Ministry of Economic Development, Telecommunications & the GSB. We hope you can attend for the full programme.

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

All people requiring access to the conference hall via any entrance must produce a form of official personal photographic identification prior to admittance to the building.
Acceptable forms of identification are:
• Company Photo Pass
• New Style Driving licence
• Photo Credit Card
• Passport.
Failure to produce identification will result in entry being delayed and possibly refused. There are NO exceptions to this rule.

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

A transfer service will be operated from selected hotels to the conference venue, please ask the organisers for further information.

Is my registration/ticket transferrable?

It is possible to transfer your ticket to a colleague, but please inform the organisers of any changes in advance of the event on events@cto.int.

Can I update my registration information?

You are welcome to update your registration information by logging into your Eventbrite account and updating the details on file.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

It is essential that you bring either a printed ticket to the registration desk or an email ticket confirming your order.

What is the refund policy?

All cancellations must be made in writing at least 21 days before the event date and acknowledged by a member of CTO. Any cancellations made after this time period will levy a 100% cancellation charge.

The name on the registration/ticket doesn't match the attendee. Is that okay?

No, all names must match the registered attendee list.
