🎤 How to Communicate for Impact
A 4-Week Online Workshop Series
In a time of climate urgency, we don’t just need more data; we need more voices. This course is designed to help you find yours.
Over four weeks, you’ll learn to communicate with clarity, purpose, and power — whether you’re speaking to your team, your community, or the wider world. Through practical tools, live sessions, and peer reflection, you’ll build the confidence and skills to share your story and inspire action.
Each session is ticketed individually, allowing the freedom for you to join the full course of just part of it. Each week covers a different theme, as listed below.
🗓️ Week 1 (July 22): The good, the bad and the ugly of climate communication
In our first session, we'll explore why good climate communication matters, what gets in its way, and how we might do it better. We'll explore how to cut through amidst growing noise. We'll also start to hone in on where you personally want to grow to become an effective communicator.
🔍 You'll walk away with: a clear sense of the current communication landscape; what does and doesn't work; as well as where you want to grow
🗓️ Week 2 (July 29): Finding your voice
You’ll develop your ‘one big idea’ and apply principles of impactful storytelling to draft a short speech rooted in your personal experience, values, and vision. This will lay the foundations for other forms of communication.
🔍 You'll walk away with: a simple talk structure and delivery tools.
🗓️ Week 3 (August 5): Meeting people where they are
Learn how to adapt your core message across communities, contexts, and worldviews; without losing what matters most. Climate work is full of jargon, nuance, and overwhelm. Learn how to translate complexity into connection, using metaphors, analogies, and plain language that actually lands.
🔍 You'll walk away with: your signature message and a toolkit for breaking things down without dumbing them down.
🗓️ Week 4 (August 12): Share your story in the real world
Now we bring it all together. In this final session, we move from message development to real-world application; with a focus on showing up confidently in different spaces. Through scenario work, peer feedback, and personal reflection, we’ll explore what it means to share your story publicly and purposefully.
🔍 You'll walk away with: the confidence and tools to communicate effectively to a variety of audiences, across different contexts.
This course is for you if:
- You care about climate and want to speak about it more clearly
- You feel you have something to say, but don’t know where to start
- You want to grow your confidence as a communicator — online, at work, in community, or on stage

The 4-part series starts on July 22 and runs over four weeks. Each workshop will cover a different theme. You need to book a ticket for each session, if you want to join all four.
Each session is individually ticketed so folks have the option of joining a one-off workshop, or the whole series, as each session covers a different theme (detailed in the event description). However, each workshop will build on the last, so it's recommended that you join all four.
I never want finance to be a barrier to access, which is why fully subsidised tickets are available. Please send a message via the Eventbrite if you need a subsidised ticket.
While the sessions are designed to be interactive, you are welcome to sign up even if unable to attend live, and receive the recording(s).
