Communicating with People living with Dementia

This course will explore what wellbeing means to a person living with dementia and to understand how different care and communication approaches can improve a person's wellbeing. The course will introduce you to communication techniques that can enable co-production and positive risk taking.
This course will enable participants to:
Explain why positive communication is central to good dementia care
Be able to communicate better with people living with dementia
Recognise the influence of body language in communication
Describe the vital importance of REAL communication (Reminiscence, Empathic engagement, Active listening and Life story)
Assess the Sense Framework and how it's elements can promote wellbeing
Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
We welcome you to attend the other courses in this series, however this is not obligatory.
