About this event

This session is for family members and unpaid carers of someone living with dementia, as well as those who work in health and social care.

We will be looking at ways of increasing positive communication with a person living with dementia, and tips on how to do this. We follow a strengths based approach and focus on a persons needs, strengths and desires.

We will also explore methods of navigating and helping with distress and look at understanding behaviours.

Please note: Our sessions are not webinars. They are small, interactive workshops with the opportunity to participate and get involved. We ask that people attend with cameras and microphones on where possible, but understand if you are unable to do this.

Effro is a small charitable organisation and therefore if you are unable to attend, we would appreciate if you could let us know so we can make the space available to someone else.

Changing perceptions of dementia.

At Effro, we believe that recognising the needs, preferences and individuality of each person living with dementia creates opportunities for a better life. we work with individuals to explore the things they’re interested in. We provide a safe and supportive framework for people living with dementia to focus on the most enjoyable aspects of their lives: reflecting on happy memories, revisiting favourite places and reigniting personal passions.

We offer a variety of support services to individuals living with dementia in communities throughout South Wales, and provide practical advice and resources to support anyone looking to provide activities or group sessions for people living with dementia.
