Event description

Description

Join us at our one-day, fully funded conference to explore how we can best support the development of children’s early, speech and language skills both in the setting environment and within the home. We will draw on many examples of current best practice and explore effective strategies for parental engagement.

Keynote speaker Elizabeth Jarman will be focusing on ‘Getting the Environment Right for Children and Families: Developing the Communication Friendly Spaces Approach in your Context’. Whilst Mark Burns will be presenting his significant body of work with the ‘It’s Your Child’s Life’ Programme and discussing how we can build strong partnerships with parents to help their children achieve success.

There will also be a range of exhibitors present and a choice of 4 afternoon workshop sessions:
1. Building Rapport with Reluctant Children; Beginning the Speech and Language Therapy Process (delivered by Communicate)
2. Engaging with the Home Learning Environment (delivered by NCC Community Communication Champions)
3. Partnership Working (delivered by Action for Children)
4. The Library Service; Supporting Speech, Language and Communication Development (delivered by The Norfolk Library Service)

Doors will open at 08:30am for registration, with the conference starting at 9:00am. Lunch will be provided, and all attendees will be given a raffle ticket for the end of day draw.
(Please make us aware of any food allergies by emailing ashley.cater@norfolk.gov.uk after booking).

This conference is being organised by the Norwich Opportunity Area and Norfolk County Council's Early Years and Achievement Service.
