Description

We are delighted to announce a new communication disability seminar for 8 November 2017, presented by Dr Julie Lachkovic. Please join us for this free informative seminar on the topic:

"Does temperament influence outcome in early language delay?"

Wednesday 8 November, 5-6pm, Room 3.20, Brooks Building:

Dr Julie Lachkovic

Julie is a Principal Lecturer in speech and language therapy at Manchester Met. She has previously worked as a speech and language therapist with children and families in NHS and charitable settings. Julie’s research focus is in understanding early language delay and how to support language development for these children.

Abstract: This seminar presents results from a study which identified the temperament signature of a cohort of UK children with early language delay. It further investigated links between the groups temperament profiles (N=72) and their receptive and expressive language progress over 12 months. The role of the temperament factors distractibility, adaptability and persistence significantly contributed to the children's outcomes and these findings will be discussed.

Places on this seminar are limited, so please book your ticket to guarantee a place. For more information and to join our mailing list for future seminars, please contact Dr Yvonne Lynch at Yvonne.lynch@mmu.ac.uk.
