This FREE masterclass is designed for nurses in any care setting who regularly undertake complex case management with people and families at end of life, including senior clinical nurses and nurse specialists.

Led by Professor Philip Larkin, Professor of Palliative Care Nursing at the University of Lausanne*, this masterclass will explore complex clinical case scenarios in order to help develop knowledge and skills when having difficult conversations with people and their families.

Please note: There are limited spaces available. Delegates are encouraged to bring anonymised examples of complex cases from their practice, which will be the focus for discussion.


Professor Philip Larkin PhD, MSc, BSc (Hons), RN RCN, RNT

Professor Larkin is Professor of Palliative Care Nursing at the University of Lausanne and President of the European Association of Palliative Care (EAPC). He has worked in palliative care for 30 years and in recognition of his European and International work, received the Lifetime Achievement Award from Macmillan Cancer Support and the International Journal of Palliative Nursing in 2007.

In his current role as Academic Director of the Institute for Training and Research into Care, he is developing a programme of nurse-focused palliative care research in partnership with the palliative care and support service, CHUV, Lausanne Switzerland.Professor Philip Larkin PhD, MSc, BSc (Hons), RN RCN, RNT
