Communities for Afghans Launch Event

The Pickwell Foundation warmly invites you to an online information session about The Afghan Welcome Project, where we’ll share how you or your organisation can get involved. We are proud to be a leading partner in the Communities for Afghans government programme as a Principal Sponsor.

What makes this project special is that it’s led by people who’ve done this before. Everyone involved has first-hand experience of community sponsorship and refugee resettlement. Almost a decade on, we’ve witnessed extraordinary stories unfold - families rebuilding their lives and local people growing in confidence, empathy, and friendship.

It’s deeply rewarding work: not without its challenges, but those moments of challenge often become the moments of greatest connection. This is where communities thrive.

At a time when the national conversation about newcomers can feel polarised, this project offers another way forward - one rooted in connection, contribution, and resilience. It shows that when communities take responsibility for welcome, everyone benefits.
