About the Walk

Leeds Lapwings is a new, friendly, and inclusive birdwatching group based in Leeds.

We bring together people who want to slow down, enjoy nature, explore local birdlife, and connect with others in a relaxed, welcoming setting.

No matter your experience level, you’re invited to join us for a low-pressure, social way into birdwatching. Come as you are!

We’re primarily aimed at those aged 20–45, but we welcome anyone who shares our approach.

What to Look Out For

Golden Acre Park is home to a wide variety of wildlife. Depending on the day, you might spot:

• Tuneful songbirds such as Eurasian Nuthatch, Chiffchaff, and Song Thrush

• A veriety of waterfoul including the striking Madarin

• Majestic Red Kite circling above

• If we are lucky, more elusive woodland birds such as Jays and Woodpeckers.

What to Bring

• Water

• Snacks e.g. fruit or energy bars

• Comfortable trainers or walking shoes

• Light jacket, jumper, or coat

• Binoculars (if you have them – no worries if not!)

Optional tea or coffee stop!

Afterwards you are welcome to join us for a warm drink at the Golden Acre Park Tea Rooms, to get to know each other a little more and discuss the birds spotted during the walk!

Accessibility

The route is flat and mostly accessible, with opportunities to rest along the way.

There is paid parking and public transport nearby.

Booking

Spaces are limited so we can keep the group small and friendly. Book your free ticket today to join us.
