About the Walk
Leeds Lapwings is a new, friendly, and inclusive birdwatching group based in Leeds.
We bring together people who want to slow down, enjoy nature, explore local birdlife, and connect with others in a relaxed, welcoming setting.
No matter your experience level, you’re invited to join us for a low-pressure, social way into birdwatching. Come as you are!
We’re primarily aimed at those aged 20–45, but we welcome anyone who shares our approach.
What to Look Out For
Rodley Nature Reserve is home to a wide variety of wildlife. Depending on the day, you might spot:
• Kingfishers darting along the water
• Herons and Little Egrets stalking the shallows
• Lapwings showing off their striking plumage
• Ducks, geese, and grebes on the lagoons
• Warblers and finches in the hedgerows
What to Bring
• Water
• Snacks e.g. fruit or energy bars
• Comfortable trainers or walking shoes
• Light jacket, jumper, or coat
• Binoculars (if you have them – no worries if not!)
Accessibility
The route is flat and mostly accessible, with opportunities to rest along the way.
There is free parking and public transport nearby.
