This workshops is designed to help delegates to understand how to project manage the development and delivery of a community energy project for a range of generation assets including PV, wind and biomass and it will also look at district heating and private wire for new build.

It will focus on the project management process and use real-life examples and will include how to create a critical pathway taking into account relevant deadlines and the time of year, identifying and managing risks, financial operation, installer availability, grid connections, H&S requirements and director capacity. It will also look at the roles and responsibilities required by the volunteers.

This course is aimed at groups just starting up and well as more experienced volunteers who want to brush up on their skills and share their experience.

This is part of the Community Connects workshops and the first two workshops will be held in Community Energy Fortnight 2018. The other workshop is How the grid works which is being held in Manchester on 29th June.

Future workshops will cover:

  • Energy efficiency for community and local energy schemes,
  • Breaking down barriers to develop partnership for delivery
  • New business models for community energy scheme
  • Financial modelling for community energy projects
  • Understanding leases for community energy projects
  • Raising finance for community projects, Quantum Strategy and Technology
