Description

Delivered by Electricity North West

This workshop is designed to help delegates get an insight into the issues affecting the electricity distribution grid, how they are managed and the potential impact on community and local energy projects. It is for non-electrical engineers with an interest in the subject who want to understand how it can impact or benefit your project.

It will give an overview of the structure of the electricity grid, explain grid capacity, how it is measured and managed. It will talk through the process for handling grid connection applications and introduce heat maps which show the available capacity on the network.

This is part of the Community Connects workshops and the first two workshops will be held in Community Energy Fortnight 2018. The other workshop is Community energy project management (without too many tears) which is being held in Preston on 5th July.

Future workshops will cover:

  • Energy efficiency for community and local energy schemes,
