If violence is worrying you and you live, work or are growing up in Lambeth, then you need to attend the Community Listening event! No prior involvement is required to participate.

Please come along to this community-led event, to discuss how we can work together with the Council and other statutory agencies, to find new ways of tackling youth violence and create a positive future for the next generation.

Contributors include

The Leader of Lambeth Council, Black Thrive, NatWest Bank, parents and young people, plus many others.

Those attending can expect to explore four key questions at this event:

What is the most significant thing happening in the lives of you and your family?
What are your concerns about living/working in Lambeth?
What would you most like to see changed?
What do you think Lambeth should be prioritising?

Key event outcomes

To identify new and emerging leaders within local communities who will work with the council and other statutory agencies, to co-produce/implement the “Tackling violence against young people” strategy.
To present the results from the listening event back to the Council.

FAQs

Do I need to have experienced violence to attend this event?

No! This event is open to everyone who cares about violence in Lambeth: they may have no experience of violence but worried about it; they may have experienced violence directly, or they may have committed violence on others and want to be part of change.

Is this event about knife crime?

Not exclusively, although this is a form of violence that people might be worried about. Violence covers many behaviours, which could include domestic violence, physical/emotional violence, threatening behaviour, exploitation of many kinds, and a variety of other forms. We are engaging with communities to learn more about how it plays out in the lives of those who live and work in Lambeth.

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

The minimum age is 16 for those who wish to attend the event and participate.

Will there be any food or drink?

Light refreshments and a pre-Christmas buffet will be provided.
