Community development and planning reform

By The Bartlett

Overview

Join us for a panel discussion with community development organisations discussing how to put communities at the centre of decision-making

The event will showcase perspectives on national planning reform debates from community-led housing organisations, community land trusts, community enterprises and community planning groups, which have been marginalised in policy and public debates so far. Via speaker contributions and audience discussions, the event will seek to challenge the framing of community concerns as NIMBYist, advancing conversations about the public purpose and social compact underpinning planning. We will also discuss current efforts already underway by community development and planning groups to influence planning policy debates; ideas and needs for further initiatives; and the potential role for universities in supporting this.
