Our annual conference this year will provide an opportunity to explore opportunities and challenges which the current political and policy context offers. Previous events and dialogues with our members have found a largely disempowered body of CD practitioners hungry to find their way back to value based practice. Let’s continue to build our movement and collectively bring CD to the foreground of government policy and restore our confidence in empowering practice.
Discussion groups will explore current opportunities to influence the development of national policy on CD and consider what we as practitioners can do to ensure that our day to day practice is informed by our values of social justice, equality, human rights, empowerment, etc. We can also explore how we might strengthen our links across Europe.
Our speakers include Alasdair McKinlay who has policy responsibility for Community Development and Community Empowerment within Scottish Government and Stuart Hashagen, from SCDC, who will provide an update on the Guide for CD practitioners and the work of the European Community Development Network.
Book early to avoid disappointment!
What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
The North Park Conference Centre is situated just next Easter Road Football Stadium and is a fifeteen to twenty minute walk from Edinburgh Waverley Station. A number one bus will take you from Princes Street to Easter Road. There is some parking at the venue, but this fills up quickly and there is free parking on the surrounding streets. The venue is fully accessible.
