About this event
Community energy in Westbury on Severn and Blaisdon
Energy prices have soared in recent years, and local people in Westbury on Severn and Blaisdon are struggling to keep their homes warm in winter. We need to decide as communities and as a country how to meet our future energy generation needs. Locally owned renewables, such as wind and solar, can be an important part of the solution. But new solar farms and wind turbines can also cause division, particularly if they are not sensitively placed or do not benefit those living nearby.
Local people know their area and are best placed to shape solutions that work for everyone. That's why we are inviting Westbury on Severn and Blaisdon residents to join a discussion about the role community-owned renewables could play in the future energy generation for these parishes. All voices and views are welcome as we work together to discuss a way forward.
What is the workshop?
Forest of Dean Climate Action Partnership (FoDCAP) invite you to join this interactive workshop to share your thoughts on community energy in the area, getting your views as local people.
FoDCAP, Forest of Dean District Council and Forest Community Energy have partnered with the Centre for Sustainable Energy, who will help deliver this workshop. This project is funded by the Energy Industry Voluntary Redress Scheme.
What will happen in the workshop?
It will explore how your community can play a role in the UK’s national efforts to take climate action – thinking about what renewable energy could happen in your area and how it could benefit your community.
The workshop is aimed at anyone who lives or works in the Westbury on Severn and/or Blaisdon parishes. Everyone is welcome - if you have an opinion on community energy, we want to hear it. You don’t need to know anything about community energy as there will be information provided during the workshop.
Accessibility
Westbury on Severn Parish Hall is wheelchair accessible, with an access ramp into the main hall. There is also an accessible toilet.
