About this event
As part of the ‘Energy in Your Community’ programme, this open day invites you to explore how community-owned renewable energy could benefit your area. These are clean energy projects that are designed, owned, and led by local people, with the benefits staying in the community, depending on what’s suitable for your parish.
No prior knowledge needed - just curiosity and a willingness to get involved.
- Visit stalls, listen to presentations, and share your thoughts
- Opening talks at 10:30 am and 12 midday
- Hot drinks and sweet treats provided
- Children’s play area open, with extra games
- Community library and fridge open
Stalls include:
- What’s realistic for wind and solar power locally? - Centre for Sustainable Energy
- What is “community-owned” energy and how can residents benefit? - Bath & West Community Energy
- Save money on energy bills this winter - Home Energy Team
- How to get involved locally - Peasedown Environment Group & Future Wellow
- Meet the Community Energy Network team - Bath & North East Somerset Council
This is your chance to help shape energy projects that are designed and directed by local people.
About Energy in Your Community
Energy in Your Community helps local people explore and develop renewable energy projects, like wind turbines or solar farms (depending on what is suitable in your area), that bring direct benefits to their communities. This is part of the Community Energy Network, a partnership project supported by Bath and North East Somerset Council, Bath & West Community Energy, the Centre for Sustainable Energy and the University of Bath. The aim is to support the development of 5MW of community-owned renewable generation across the Bath and North East Somerset area by 2030, designed and directed by local people, and to save energy at home.
