Event description

Description

What can community-based growers and university researchers learn from each other?
This workshop will explore how the movement of community based food initiatives across the north of England connects with formal and informal kinds of research and learning.
The day will consist of a sharing of perspectives from relevant university researchers and practitioners, combining short presentations and small group discussions, and building towards the next two Aquagarden workshops, taking pace in Spring 2018, and other related community food innovation activities.
A mix of researchers and practitioners, and hybrids of both, are invited to share in this workshop, which will raise the profile and importance of community innovation approaches in our food systems. The intention is both to recognise and enhance the capacities of informal learning and research for practitioners, social enterprises and small businesses, and to promote better communication across the university sector about innovation happening in our region at the grassroots. We will explore potential for collaboration in research designs for more sustainable food systems in the north of England that will better incorporate and involve many kinds of growers and researchers.
