About this event
Community Gardening Club
Love all things growing and gardening? Want to get involved in a community project and meet new people? We'd love to see you on the first Tuesday of each month to help plant and maintain the Alty Market Community Garden, that you'll find next to our Community Kitchen on Central Way!
The Alty Market Community Garden was co-created by Bounceback Food CIC, Olinda Community Gardens and Altrincham Market in 2024. The seven planters and climbing 'green wall' feature a lovely combination of herbs, vegetables, and flowers.
As a volunteer at our Community Gardening Club, you'll help maintain this important space for gardening and growing. Where possible, our community chefs work the harvested herbs & veg into specials on the menu at our adjacent Community Kitchen - which provides meals to 15 partner foodbanks & sheltered accommodation sites across Manchester thanks to our 'buy one, give one' lunch menu.
The Community Garden requires regular maintenance but we like to get everyone together once a month to plant, maintain, harvest and catch up over a brew! You're also welcome to stay for lunch and support the work of our social enterprise.

Bounceback Food CIC is a social enterprise tackling food poverty and food waste across the UK. Our Community Cookery School teams teach people how to cook, distribute nutritious meals, and help people gain employment in the food sector. In the North West we also operate 2 Community Kitchens: the original site at Altrincham Market (home of the Community Garden!) and a second site recently opened in Manchester city centre to mark our 10-year anniversary. Find out more via our website and social media channels (@bouncebackfood).
Olinda Community Gardens are a fellow CIC based in Trafford focused on strengthening food security, increasing natural biodiversity, and improving community wellbeing. Find out more on their Instagram @olinda_community_gardens.
