Community Group - In person meet up at DINA, Sheffield!
Event Information
About this event
This week's community group is an opportunity to get together and have a chat in person! We are offering an informal, relaxed meet up at DINA, Sheffield.
We know that being pregnant or having had a baby can be one of the most wonderful periods of time and also one of the toughest. Combined with a global pandemic, we know that the mothers, parents and carers out there have a lot to contend with. We need community, support, and to know that we're not alone. We are delighted to be able to hold this event in person, as human interaction is such an important and supportive thing to have.
This week's group is one of our favourites: an open forum where no topic is off the table and it's led by you - what's coming up for you that day, what you'd like to know, and to introduce you to the community if you're new.
We need a safe space to go to where we can talk about what's coming up for us, and meet others that are going through the same thing. We need to ask questions that we can't find answers to or that we think might be really silly, and to seek reassurance, knowledge and the experience of midwives and people that have been there before. So whether you've just found out that you're pregnant or are well into your parenting journey - you are so welcome.
The Community Groups are run by a team of midwives and parents who are available to you to offer warm, non-judgemental support, knowledge and advice. You can ask any question you may have - no matter how small or how big. Or if you just want to be in the mix and hear other people's stories then that's perfect too.
Any questions get in touch- we look forward to seeing you there.
*As per current guidelines - please wear a face mask at all times at this event unless you are exempt*
Donations
The SMC believes that our services should be available to anyone who wants to access them; which means people can pay what they can afford for our tickets. We offer a suggested price, but we don’t check how much people pay for tickets and no one will ever be turned away due to a lack of funds.
However, as an organisation dependent on donations and grant funding we ask that if you can afford to pay then you do! Your generous contribution towards our work goes toward paying our session leaders, birth workers and making it possible that people who can’t afford to pay to have the same access to services we believe you all deserve.
Inclusivity and Confidentiality
Inclusivity, safety, respect, confidentiality and consent are fundamental principles of the SMC and we ask all attendees to uphold them too.
