Frequently asked questions

Can I bring children?

Yes! All ages are welcome, but children must be accompanied by an adult, and parents/carers are responsible for them throughout the session.

Can my child use this volunteering as part of their Duke of Edinburgh Awards?

Yes! Please email Eve (Head of Community Outreach) at community@paradisecooperative.org, so we can make sure we are supporting your child with the reporting for Duke of Edinburgh. All under-18's must be accompanied by an adult.

Do I need experience?

Not at all! Beginners and experienced gardeners alike are welcome.

Is the garden accessible?

Our site has uneven paths and some physical tasks, but we aim to accommodate all abilities. We have widened key paths through the garden, and some higher raised beds for better accessibility. We are working on installing an accessible toilet. Please contact us if you need adjustments.

What should I wear or bring?

Please wear weather-appropriate clothing and sturdy footwear. All tools and materials will be provided.

I have a bee allergy. Is it safe to attend?

We have a small apiary onsite. While bee stings are rare, we recommend bringing any necessary medication, as we do not store remedies on-site.
