Community Host Recruitment Evening
Date and time
Are you passionate about helping to prevent young people from being homeless? Do you have a spare room? We want to talk to you!
About this event
Simon Community Scotland are running a programme in Glasgow that helps prevent young people (16 - 25) from having to sofa surf or sleep on the streets during a crisis in their lives. If you could offer a warm and safe space for a young person to sleep for a night or two until we are able to find a suitable, long term solution for them, please come along to this event.
These young people often find themselves temporarily without a roof over their heads through no fault of their own or maybe through a relationship breakdown at home. All they need is a safe place to stay while our team find a more permanent solution for them. Most young people only need one or two nights although on occasion it can be longer. All we ask our hosts to do is to be available at least one night per month.
During this event, you will have the opportunity to meet existing hosts who will share their experiences with you. They can tell you about the excellent training and support that they receive and the positive effects that helping a young person has had on them.
There is a 24 hour support line for the hosts and the team also make regular contact with them to ensure all is well.
Our Nightstop team will be there to talk you through the process, answer all of your questions and help you decide if this is something that you would like to consider.
