Event description
Attendees on this course will learn how to provide coaching and mentoring to other community landowners.

About this Event

Does your geographic community own land or assets or is it planning to do so? Working or a volunteering for a community landowner involves learning a huge range of skills and working with a wide range of people.

Opportunities to share learning and discuss plans with staff or volunteers in similar roles can be limited. Community Land Scotland and the Social Enterprise Academy have developed this programme to help staff and volunteers (including Board Members) develop mentoring and coaching skills and then go on participate in co-coaching.

This programme, which involves two overnight stays in Inverness, will help you develop skills, find new ways to solve problems, enhance your performance at work and feel more supported. We hope participants will feel happier and more confident in their roles, better able to solve problems and more connected with other community landowners.

In 2018/19, Community Land Scotland piloted this programme in Argyll and the Western Isles. Attendees were trained in coaching and mentoring skills and the attendees at each programme have gone on to develop co-coaching groups. Participants on those programmes said:

“I have found this programme extremely useful and enlightening. Having the space and time to explore the issues in depth is really important.”

“It will help me to be a better development worker in how I interact with my board and community.”

The programme comprises two overnight sessions, running from 5pm to 3pm on both the 28th /29th January 2020 and the 10th / 11th March. Attendees must attend both sessions.

The programme is supported by the Scottish Government.
