Event description

Description

Join us for a retrospective of 45 years of Thames foreshore archaeology with Gustav Milne, Thames Discovery Programme Director, to celebrate 10 years of Thames Discovery Programme.

Gustav Milne's archaeological career began with Guildhall Museum, as a volunteer on the Custom House site in the City of London. He then joined the Museum of London’s Department of Urban Archaeology in 1973, working on many waterfront sites of Roman, Saxon and later Medieval date. Gustav began informal foreshore survey on the other side of the river wall in the 1970’s. He started teaching at UCL in 1991, setting up the Thames Archaeological Survey, followed in 2008 by the Thames Discovery Programme, and the national CITiZAN community-based coastal archaeology project with MOLA some six years later.

Join us for drinks and nibbles from 6:30pm, the talk will begin at 7pm.
