Event description

Description

The production of new homes is dominated by one model of delivery: speculative housebuilding. On its own, this approach cannot satisfy the number of new homes that are needed in Wales and communities can react negatively to proposals for new developments.

A growing movement of community-driven models and approaches to building new homes offer opportunities to communities to take a hands on approach to housebuilding that is sensitive to local needs and aspirations.

This Network Event will draw upon case studies of community-led approaches to housebuilding to highlight the benefits these models offer and ask whether a community-led approach can help create decent and affordable homes that are popular with communities.
