Event description
Join us for this introduction to Community Reporting and explore how it can be used as a tool to support co-production

About this event

Community Reporting is a digital storytelling methodology rooted in lived experience that has been developed by People’s Voice Media and supports people's participation in research, policy-making, service development, and decision-making processes.

Community Reporting uses accessible, portable technologies to support people to tell their own stories, in their own ways via peer-to-peer approaches. It then connects these stories with the people, groups and organisations who are in a position to use the insights within them to make positive social change.

About the training

This 2-Day training programme will cover the fundamentals of Community Reporting and explore how this method can be used as a tool for co-production. The training will be run in-person from 10:00am - 3:30pm on the 8th and 9th February and will cover:

  • What is Community Reporting? Method and Practice
  • Storytelling techniques
  • Digital recording skills
  • Responsible sotrytelling practice
  • Sharing stories
  • Using Community Reporting to support co-production
  • Creating your own bespoke action plan
  • Peer feedback and learning

The training will be a mixture of presentations, individual/small group/whole group activities and discussions, reflection tasks, practical recording activities and Q&A.

Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

Who is it for?

This event is open to anyone living and/or working in Greater Manchester who is interested in or working in co-production.

What do I need to bring to the training?

Attendees are asked to bring a smartphone or tablet that can record photos and audio and/or video with them to the training. If you are unable to do this, there will be some equipment avaliable for you to use.

Please note: Whilst this training is free, places are limited. Please only book if you fully intend to attend the full 2 days. Non-attendance will be charged at £48.25 per person, at the discretion of the organiser.

About 'Not Another Co-Production Project'

This is a 3-year project funded by the National Lottery that will see People's Voice Media and Ideas Alliance work together to move co-production from a buzz word into an embedded practice across different areas in England. We want a future where policy, research and service design are informed by local people and where collaboration is the heart of how things are done. This way of working is messy, fun, challenging, but can really make a difference to those who are willing to give the time and energy to it.

Financial Support

We have a financially supported place avaliable at this training, up to the value of £150.00. This place is designed to open-up access to the event to people who may otherwise be unable to attend by:

1. Providing payment of up to £150.00 upon receipt of an invoice from people who are unwaged and/or in non-salaried roles (i.e. people who work freelance, people who are paid by the hour and this event would not be included in their general pay etc.).

2. Covering eligible expenses (e.g. travel) up to a maximum of £150.00 upon receipt of invoices/receipts

3. Contributing to support costs (e.g. PA support) up to a maximum of £150.00 upon receipt of invoices/receipts

The above financial support can also be mixed across the different financial support options (i.e., a mixture of travel and support costs).

When you book your place at this event, the form will ask you if you are applying for the finanically supported place. The place will be provided on a first-to-apply basis and we will notify you of this before the event.

We look forward to seeing you at the event!
