About this event

  • 6 hours

The Carbon Community invites you to join us for a Community Science Day at Glandwr Forest, our site near Llandovery, Wales.

We are still planning our activities for Saturday 18th May which will likely involve planting shrubs in an area where we are restoring biodiversity as well as work to maintain the integrity of our carbon study. This is an opportunity to contribute directly to research on the climate and biodiversity crises. No experience is required.

Our Carbon Study

Glandwr Forest is a new native broadleaf forest and is home to The Carbon Community’s landmark carbon study which aims to help trees absorb more carbon from the air by accelerating tree growth and improving soil biodiversity. Designed together with leading scientists, this unique field trial combines two natural approaches, forest microbiome inoculation and enhanced rock weathering, which have been proven in the lab and are now being studied in a large-scale field trial. You can learn more about our study, here.

Activities for May 18th are still being finalised, and are likely to include:

  • 💚 Restoration planting on an area known as "the island"
  • 🌳 Maintain the integrity of our carbon study, including completing tree guard replacement work.

We will update you on final activities closer to the time.

Please note that all activities are physical. We welcome all volunteers 16+, 16 & 17 year olds must bring a responsible adult.
