About this event

Join us on Saturday 6th September for a day of Community Science. Join us for trees, science and fresh air!

Glandwr Forest is a new native broadleaf forest and is home to the Glandwr Forest Carbon Study which aims to accelerate and enhance the sequestration of carbon dioxide (CO2) in trees and soil to tackle the climate crisis. This unique field trial looks at forest microbiome inoculation and enhanced rock weathering in a study involving 25,600 trees.

Each year we 'spruce up' the research plots and work to maintaining the integrity of the carbon study. This is extremely important to ensure that each of the 72 plots is clearly marked and the individual bar-codes are intact. Read more about the importance of our annual spruce up on our blog.

Activities include:

  • 🏷️ Checking the stakes and barcode tags
  • 📏 Checking and testing equipment for our Big Tree Measure
  • 🌳 In addition, there may be some additional maintenance opportunities!

The driveway to our site is up a steep hill from the bridge. We are trying to keep the carbon footprint of the project as low as possible, please consider this in your travel plans.

If you are travelling by train, Cynghordy is a request stop, we will be happy to accommodate arrival / departure to fit in with the train timetable. If you plan to arrive by train, please let us know at info@carboncommunity.org and we will send walking directions or arrange to collect you from the station.
