This Community Simulation course allows you to train with a team to manage complex patients in community settings. The course particularly highlights the need for using human factors skills such as communication, teamwork and leadership to improve care outcomes and patient safety. You will also be introduced to the Systems Engineering Initiative for Patient Safety (SEIPS) model which helps you identify factors which help or hinder you in the healthcare system, and discuss how to address particular challenges. The course will include a human factors workshop and two immersive simulation scenarios.
Intended learning outcomes:
- Explore challenging work situations in a safe environment
- Share real-world experiences related to simulation scenarios and reflect on how we work
- Consider factors which help and hinder us at work (human factors) and how we can optimise our work systems
Please note this course is provided only for staff working at Sutton Health and Care.
