Community Social
Date and time
A monthly social for LGBT+ people in or travelling to Glasgow to get together around an activity
About this event
Each month at Community Socials we’ll get together for a planned activity. This is open to all LGBT+ people in/near Glasgow who wish to connect with the community and take part in activities with the aim of bringing people together and making friends.
Community Socials will be held on the 4th Tuesday of the month. If you’d like to learn more, contact Eve (she/her) at eve@lgbthealth.org.uk or 0141 255 1767.
Activity programme
- Tuesday 31st May: board games
We’ll have lots of games to choose from – whether you’d rather play Trivial Pursuit and test your general knowledge, prefer Settlers of Catan and building an empire, or want to play Exploding Kittens and have some quick-fire fun.
- Tuesday 28th June: film night
Tonight we’ll watch Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara in the powerful drama Carol – following a forbidden love affair in the highly acclaimed period drama. The film is a reliable contender on lists of the best LGBT+ films. Let’s enjoy it together with some popcorn, soft drinks, and have a chat afterwards.
Film details : UK Certificate 15 | Running time: 114 minutes | Language: English | Content notes: some strong language and sex
- Tuesday 26th July: spoken word night
You’re invited to tell us a story, share a poem you like, do some comedy, or whatever else takes your fancy. We ask that for the most part shares are limited to five to ten minutes. As always, please respect other people’s boundaries and help us make this a fun, friendly and affirming space.
Who we welcome
Anyone from the LGBTQIA+ community based in or visiting Glasgow is welcome to join us. We welcome the entire diversity of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community including non-binary, queer, intersex, asexual people and all identities under the LGBTQIA+ umbrella. This includes those who are questioning or exploring their sexual orientation or gender identity.
Registration
Spaces are limited so we need you to register in advance. The capacity of this event is 20 people.
Bookings are for 1 person, not groups. Even if you and a friend or partner share an email address, you must make one booking per person.
If something changes and you can no longer attend the meetup, please let us know as soon as you can so your booking becomes available for someone else.
COVID-19
As of 18th April, all COVID rules and restrictions were lifted in Scotland. However, the virus has not gone away. The Scottish Government is now promoting the use of “COVID sense” to inform how best to protect people. With that in mind, we are continuing to have COVID safety measures in place to reduce risk though we know risk can never be reduced to zero. Any event may be cancelled or postponed due to unforeseen circumstances or if Scottish Government guidance changes.
The venue
We’ll be meeting at Kinning Park Complex. More information about the venue and how to access after registration.
