The City of Edinburgh Council is developing its approach to Community Wealth Building (CWB). A survey on this topic is also available on the Consultation Hub here.
CWB is a form of economic development that aims to build a fairer and stronger local economy that works for everyone. It does so by supporting the creation and retention of wealth in local economies, and by giving local people more control over that wealth.
The Scottish Government recognises the opportunities that Community Wealth Building represents and is putting in place legislation (The Community Wealth Building (Scotland) Bill) to support implementation of the approach nationally.
The Council is currently developing a Community Wealth Building plan to set out its priority actions for the future. As part of this process, we would like to get input from Community Councils to understand:
· How can we use CWB to support Edinburgh?
· What CWB opportunities exist?
· What is the Council’s role in supporting a CWB movement in Edinburgh?
